Statement from Congressman Gibbs on King v. Burwell

Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Following the release of the Supreme Court’s decision on King v. Burwell, Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement:

“The Supreme Court’s decision is a disappointment for those who believe that the law was incorrectly and unconstitutionally implemented.  Health care costs are skyrocketing with coverage networks shrinking, and the King v. Burwell decision affirms Obama’s intent to throw more of the taxpayers’ hard earned dollars into a bottomless money pit.  I agree with Justice Scalia in his dissent that “Words no longer have meaning if an Exchange that is not established by a State is ‘established by the State’.”

“I and many of my colleagues were elected to repeal Obamacare, which we have voted on time and time again.” Gibbs continued,  “Today’s ruling does not change the fact that Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama and their progressive majority did not listen to the American people.  We will continue to fight to bring affordable, high-quality and patient-centered health care.”
