Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – This morning, the House of Representatives passed a series of amendments to the Highway Bill package. The House-passed amendments now move to conference with the Senate.  Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster named Congressman Bob Gibbs as a conferee. After passage, Gibbs made the following statement:

“Today, we took one more step towards providing the long-term certainty that states need to ensure multi-year planning for their transportation infrastructure needs.  This bill also reforms the permitting process to make it easier to start and complete projects and focuses federal resources to give states more flexibility.  The reforms passed by the House will empower states with more decision-making abilities and promote private investment in our surface transportation system.  I look forward to working with my fellow conferees in finalizing legislation that is so important to our nation’s infrastructure and economy.”
