Gibbs Votes for Defense Funding, Pay Raise for Troops
WASHINGTON, DC – Following the passage of HR 2685, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement:
“Today, the House voted to provide the Department of Defense the funding and resources necessary to fight terrorist groups like ISIL and give our servicemen and women a much deserved pay raise. One of the core functions of the federal government is to fund our military and national defense. The President’s veto threat is irresponsible and threatens our readiness to respond to challenges to our national security.”
HR 2685 contains a 2.3% pay increase for troops, $88.4 billion to fight the Global War on Terror, and other necessary provisions.
