Gibbs Votes For Bipartisan Effort to Protect Seniors' Health Care

Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Following the passage of H.R. 1190, the Protecting Seniors Access to Medicare Act, Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement:

“Today I joined a bipartisan coalition in the House to pass a full repeal of the Independent Payment Advisory Board, also known as IPAB.  This board of fifteen unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats created by Obamacare was given massive powers to make cuts to Medicare in a process that bypasses Congress and exempts the board from oversight.  Medicare needs commonsense reforms that strengthen the relationship between doctor and patient rather than building a wall of bureaucrats between them.  The IPAB is another provision in a bad law that hurts the American people. This is an important step to rein in an out-of-control bureaucracy and returning health care decisions to patients and their doctors.”
