WASHINGTON, DC – Following the Senate’s procedural vote that blocked the passage of Sen. Barrasso’s bill to stop the Environmental Protection Agency’s Waters of the United States rule, Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement:

“Today’s vote in the Senate, which blocked legislation that would reverse the EPA’s Waters of the United States rule, is a perfect example of why the American people are so frustrated with Washington.  Once again, the Senate minority’s radical agenda is stopping the work of the people in its tracks. This rule is opposed by virtually everyone including small business owners, farmers, manufacturers and a majority of states.  The House even passed similar legislation with a bipartisan majority earlier this year. That bill would require the EPA to start over and listen to the stakeholders they ignored the first time they wrote this rule. I will continue to do everything I can to protect my constituents from the harmful effects of an expanding and intrusive bureaucracy.”
