Federal Court: Dem Health Spending Bill ‘Unconstitutional’

Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement Monday regarding a ruling in the U.S. District for the Northern District of Florida that the Democrats’ health spending bill is ‘unconstitutional’ and exceeds the bounds of Congressional authority:

“The American people rejected the President’s health care plan last November, the U.S. House of Representatives repealed it two weeks ago, and now the justice system has again ruled it unconstitutional.  In addition to piling on an expected $701 billion to the deficit over ten years, ObamaCare is a massive overreach of Congressional authority as it includes an unconstitutional requirement to buy insurance.  Healthcare decisions should be made by patients, families, and their doctors, not politicians and bureaucrats in Washington.  Now I call on the U.S. Senate to follow the lead of the House and repeal ObamaCare immediately.”
