Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH) today voted in favor of the Path to Prosperity Budget Resolution, which provides a clear plan for a balanced budget in ten years.  Gibbs released the following statement:

“At a time when our country’s debt is hovering at $16.7 trillion, it is imperative that this GOP budget resolution come to fruition.  It lays out a detailed approach to responsible cuts that will lead to a balanced budget and more American jobs, without raising taxes on hardworking American families.  Unemployment is currently 7.7% -- creating jobs in this country needs to be at the forefront of our priorities, and this budget resolution does just that.

“Hardworking Americans live within a budget each and every day.  It is time for Washington to hold itself to the same responsible standard.  The Senate Democrat budget plan never balances, sending us further into debt; the House Republican plan is a balanced approach to growing a healthy economy.  I hope my colleagues in our other chamber join us in this effort to get our fiscal house in order.”
