Congressman Gibbs' Statement on May's Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bob Gibbs (R-OH) released the following statement regarding the latest May 2013 unemployment report:
“The Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported that the unemployment rate has risen, reaching 7.6 percent during the month of May.
“Furthermore, there remain 1.7% fewer private sector payroll jobs, which equates to 1.9 million, as compared to January 2008. As reported today, fewer Americans are employed now than in June 2009 when the recession ended.
“We need to focus on combating the red tape, bureaucracy and regulations that are strangling our economy and job creators. We must get America back to work.”
