Congressman Gibbs Pleased with Army Corps Decision for Cleveland Harbor
WASHINGTON D.C.— Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement regarding the Army Corps of Engineers announcement on the Cleveland Harbor Dredging decision:
“After weeks of working with both the Ohio EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, I am pleased with the decision that has been made regarding the Cleveland Harbor. This decision will enable much needed dredging to be done on time and to completion in order to protect Cleveland, along with jobs and businesses that rely on maritime transportation.
“Although this decision is a step in the right direction, it only provides short term certainty. At this time, I remain concerned at the lack of a long term, sustainable plan for the Cleveland Harbor. I will continue to urge state and federal agencies to work with the Port of Cleveland to find a suitable long term plan for disposing of the dredge material.”
