Congressman Gibbs Applauds EPA Working to Reduce Lake Erie algae
Washington D.C.—Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement after the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that they were awarding $8.6 million to reduce Lake Erie algae
“I am pleased to see the EPA awarded $8.6 million to help decrease Lake Erie algal blooms. Maintaining safe drinking water is a top priority for these states and as we move forward, it is important to study the causes of these algal blooms and work to lessen the risk to Ohioan’s safety. This is an appropriate use of funds that were previously allocated for the Great Lakes initiative project. At the end of the day, having clean drinking water readily available for Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana is the goal and I applaud the EPA for recognizing the importance of this issue.”
