Congressman Bob Gibbs Statement on passage of the Farm Bill

Press Release

Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH) released the following statement on Passage of the Farm Bill:

“I am pleased to support my colleagues in the House by voting for the House-Senate Conference agreement on the Farm Bill today. I had hoped that these reforms would have gone further, but continuing the status quo is unacceptable. Although this bill did not include Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) reforms, I hope to see additional legislation that addresses these issues regarding livestock trade in the future. This bill will save taxpayers $23 billion and includes sensible reforms to both farm and food stamp programs. The Farm Bill ensures food security for those in need and provides a safety net for our nation’s producers. Now, farmers will have more choices to cover their risks under this conference report. The passage of the Farm Bill will provide certainty to America’s farmers, ranchers and consumers.”
