Congressman Bob Gibbs Statement on May Unemployment Report

June 1, 2012
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bob Gibbs (R-OH) released the following statement today regarding the Department of Labor’s unemployment report for May 2012:

“Today’s report that the economy added just 69,000 jobs in May - well below expectations of 150,000 - and the unemployment rate ticked up to 8.2 percent is beyond disappointing.  This is just another sign that threatening small businesses with tax hikes and more red tape does not create jobs.  If we are going to get our economy back on track and get people back to work, we must get our spending under control, enact commonsense regulatory reform, make real tax reforms for families and job creators, and promote an energy policy that encourages the responsible development of our own natural resources.”
