Congressman Bob Gibbs Named to Conference Committee for WRRDA 2013
WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement regarding his nomination to the conference committee for the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2013.
“I am pleased to be named to the conference committee for Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) 2013. As Subcommittee Chairman for Water Resources and Environment, WRRDA falls under my jurisdiction. It has been a long road in drafting this bill but I have confidence that we will be able to emerge from conference with a bill that is both bipartisan and supports our maritime transportation systems.
“Chairman Shuster and I were pleased with the overwhelming bipartisan support this bill received upon coming out of the Transportation Committee and ultimately on the floor of the United States House of Representatives. I hope we will be able to come together in a bipartisan fashion as Ranking Member Tim Bishop and I did while drafting this bill. WRRDA 2013 will invest in our maritime transportation systems, cut red tape and stream line the process in project approval while keeping our country globally competitive. I know we will be able to continue these efforts when working together in conference committee.”
