Congressman Bob Gibbs Announces High School Art Contest
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Bob Gibbs is pleased to announce that his office will begin taking submissions for the 2012 Congressional Art Competition. The winning artwork will be displayed for a year in the U.S. Capitol.
“I am pleased to announce to the high school artists of Ohio’s 18th Congressional District that my office will be taking submissions for the 2012 Congressional Art Competition,” said Congressman Gibbs. “I look forward to seeing the winner’s artwork represent Ohio and our communities in the U.S. Capitol.”
Every spring the U.S. House of Representatives sponsors an art competition for high school students. Any student in grades 9-12 who resides or attends school in the 18th district is eligible to participate. Artwork must be entirely original. Eligible types of art include paintings, drawings, prints, collages, mixed media, computer generated art, and photography.
The Pomerene Center for the Arts in Coshocton will be accepting entries April 16th- 20th from 1-5pm. Entries can also be dropped off or mailed to Representative Gibbs’ Zanesville Office. Entries must be submitted by April 20th. The Pomerene Center for the Arts will host a reception for the 2012 Congressional Art Competition participants on April 29th.
