On June 26th, my colleagues and I worked to ease the pain at the pump for American families. By expanding critical opportunities for American energy production, we are trying to ease the financial stress that high gas prices bring. We have the ability to produce more American oil and natural gas and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

Congressman Gibbs welcomed Trevor Poole, a junior from Dover High School, the winner of the 2014 Congressional Art Competition to Washington D.C. on June 26th. Trevor’s artwork entitled, “Corporal Poole,” is a portrait of his father who served 4 years in the Marines and was a part of Operation Restore Hope. The winning piece of art will be displayed in the United States Capitol for one year alongside artwork from congressional districts throughout the country.

This week the partisan gridlock paused for a moment when the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2014 was debated on the House floor. The WRRDA Conference Report passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support, with a final vote of 412-4. This little known bill dealing with critical national issues passed out of the House proving that Congress can get the job done.
