Congressman Bob Gibbs

Representing the 7th District of Ohio

Press Releases

December 13, 2013 Press Release
This agreement is a positive step forward. For the first time since I have been in Congress, we have begun to address our country’s mandatory spending problems, which accounts for two thirds of government spending. While discretionary spending is reviewed annually, Congress has previously failed to keep those spending cuts in place. Mandatory spending is on auto pilot and by cutting spending in this area we are able to reduce the deficit without further action by Congress.

This office will serve as another hub throughout the 7th District that constituents can use to voice their concerns.

We believe the farm bill conference must produce a bill that provides common sense, market-based resources that ensure economic stability for farmers and savings for taxpayers.”

“I, along with my colleagues in the House of Representatives, have voted on four different pieces of legislation to fund the government, each time trying to negotiate a position that the Senate could accept. The Senate chose not to negotiate in any fashion, resulting in the government shutting down."
