After weeks of working with both the Ohio EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, I am pleased with the decision that has been made regarding the Cleveland Harbor.
I introduced H.R. 935 to clarify Congressional intent regarding how the use of pesticides in or near waters should be regulated. This agreement is a positive step forward. For the first time since I have been in Congress, we have begun to address our country’s mandatory spending problems, which accounts for two thirds of government spending. While discretionary spending is reviewed annually, Congress has previously failed to keep those spending cuts in place. Mandatory spending is on auto pilot and by cutting spending in this area we are able to reduce the deficit without further action by Congress.
