Working with the President to Strengthen American Maritime Infrastructure
WASHINGTON, DC - Following President Trump’s remarks in Cincinnati on the need for investments in our nation’s inland waterways and maritime infrastructure, Congressman Gibbs released the following statement:
“President Trump knows how vital our maritime transportation network is to the American economy. Grain, coal, and American-made steel are just a few of the many products that move up and down the rivers and out of the ports and harbors that make up the nation’s water transportation infrastructure. In the last few years, Congress made it easier and less expensive to maintain and repair the harbors, locks, and dams of America’s inland waterways. Together, with the work the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee did to reform and streamline the process in WRRDA 2014 and WRDA 2016, the national waterway network can be maintained. We can make the necessary improvements to a critical piece of the infrastructure puzzle that all too often does not get the attention it deserves.”
Gibbs also wrote a column published by the Cincinnati Enquirer on the President’s remarks and water transportation infrastructure.
