Gibbs Named to Farm Bill Conference Committee
WASHINGTON, DC - After being named to the conference committee for the 2018 Farm Bill, Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement:
“Every farm bill is important to America’s agriculture community, nutrition advocates, and those across the world who rely on a safe and stable food supply. As we begin our conference with the Senate on the Agriculture and Nutrition Act, we must remember how essential it is to our nation’s farmers and ranchers to deliver stability and certainty in national agriculture policy.
“Now is also the time to focus on real reforms to our social safety net by helping people transition from welfare to work. There are more job openings than there are people looking for work, and a skills gap exacerbating the problem. This farm bill is an opportunity to implement effective education and training incentives to create a well-educated and well-equipped workforce.
“I want to thank Speaker Ryan for the opportunity to serve on the conference committee and I look forward to continuing the work on the Better Way agenda.”
