Gibbs on Appropriations: Senate Must Do Their Job

Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement after voting for HR 3354, the Make America Secure and Prosperous Appropriations Act:

“Today’s legislation puts federal spending on a responsible path for Fiscal Year 2018. We are making the necessary investments in our military and military personnel, prohibiting the enforcement of Obamacare’s individual mandate, and continuing the prohibition of taxpayer dollars to be used for abortion procedures.

“I am pleased to see HR 3354 also allows the EPA and Secretary of the Army to expedite the withdrawal the Waters of the United States Rule.  I am also glad to see my amendment to prohibit the Department of Labor from implementing a workplace injury rule that risks publicly exposing employee’s private personal and medical information was included.

“We need to move away from funding the government with continuing resolutions and setting up phony crises. It is now on the Senate to consider our appropriations legislation and do the job we were all elected to do.”
